Mary Lane married Thomas Freeman, and her sister Elizabeth Lane married Elisha Freeman.
Elizabeth and Elisha's daughter Elizabeth Freeman married Jacob Short in 1791, while Mary Lane & Thomas Freeman are said to be the parents of Mary Freeman who married Jacob Short about 1770.
Talk about confusing.
One researcher suggests Mary was an older sister of Elizabeth, while another says cousins.
Anyway, Mary Lane Freeman and Elizabeth Lane Freeman were both daughters of Edward Lane and Elizabeth Dumas.
